Welcome to the Voyage
I usually start these letters to the “fans and fam” with a heart-felt “thank you!” Without the fine folks who take time to read my humble ramblings, Tuff Life/Huffness would be impossible. Since we’re so close, I’ve made it a habit of showing how we’re living here at G. B. Huffington with our collections, and this season is no different. An ode to nature hikes, night walks, and southern places, The Spring Collection has finally been completed. Our love of adventure and exploration is what inspired this particular collection, and since we have such personal connections with our customers, it’s safe to say that y’all influenced it a lot. Each shirt was specially designed to show a side of us y’all already know, and to introduce our aura to the new-comers.
Without further ado, I am proud to present to YOU, The Voyage.
We begin our trip on campus. Complemented by boring teachers, petty dramas, and immense “studying”, it’s a rather square place. However, a trip through campus on a lonely night gives it a new ambiance. The street lights and black blanket make it an ominous place, full of presumed importance and history. The monuments and tall buildings recall a Grecian polis in its heyday. Aptly named “Grandiose,” this red tank top is our attempt at capturing the vision.
The color scheme of this season’s tank top is reminiscent of Anyschool, USA *Cough*Clemson*Cough (red brick, darkness, and a total disregard to energy efficiency) …P.M. edition. The geometric design is inspired by the scholastic use of sharp angles and simplistic architecture. The “G.B.H” draws from the Romanesque pillars found on many of the buildings. The yellow squares are inspired by the never-ending, perfectly spaced, and greatly appreciated street lamps that light your desolate path. They almost serve as a runway, seeming to lead to your dreams. As mentioned on the blog, “G. B. Huffington is the light…,” and I wanted the G. B. H. to represent that.
Our final stop is a secluded place, nestled in the foothills of Carolina. To enjoy it, you must be willing to toil. A 6 mile-round hike culminates when you’re 3 miles in, and you reach the summit. The serenity is astounding, complete with a five-mile view, including waterfalls and rolling hills. Everything feels fresh, clean and for the taking; it’s almost as though you’re on top of the world.
Our “Mountain View” shirt is the best I could come to capturing that feeling. The yellow tee sets the backdrop, alluding to the ever-present sunshine that lights the path as you ascend into the heavens. The flower-frame stems from the abundance of vegetation found on the Appalachian Trail, and complements the scenic view captured within its confines.
